Cub 54 grader blade to lo-boy conversion

I need some advice. I have an opportunity to buy a 54 plow for a standard cub. I have a lo-boy and know I need to alter a few things which I have no problem doing. However would it just be better to just buy a 3 point blade for the rear and be done with it? (I have a 3 point conversion)
I like the idea of pushing the snow forward but if backing up is just as good I’ll do that.

For as much as you would have to alter, I would just look for a Loboy grader set up.

After about the second time pushing snow, with the blade on the back, you'll be looking for a Lo-Boy front blade set-up. The standard Cub mounting brackets could be modified with just a little cutting and welding and should work O.K. but you should be able to sell what you have, put a few bucks with it and find a Lo-Boy set-up.

I bought and used a 3-point blade on my 184. The 184 is not the same as a cub so your results may be different, but when I angled the blade to move the snow off to one side, the front of the tractor would slide toward the side I was rolling the snow off. I thought it was because I was trying to float the blade, so I built a set of skies for the blade to ride in that would keep the blade 1/8" off the ground and let the weight of the blade sit on the ground (this moved more weight distribution to the front) Same issue when the blade was loaded. There just wasn't enough weight up front to keep the front tires performing the steering. I used the split brakes a lot to try to keep the tractor straight.

Frustrated with it, last year I purchased and used a front-mount blade. The results were fabulous. I could push a full blade of snow off to one side and run in second gear. Three passes down the driveway and no sliding around. The additional weight of the blade up front really helped the steering.

Setup: 54 Blade, Turf Tires on Front and Rear, Ladder Style Chains on rear, Wheel Spacers (required for the numbered series tractors). (no wheel weights or additional weights on tractor)

Note: Driveway is a 300' long gravel drive

Alright so I am scrapping both plans and waiting to find a lo boy setup. I was just hoping to get something before winter. It will be here before you know it. The best would be a loader but I'm not sure I'll ever get that lucky.

The blades are out there. They were a fairly common implement for the Lo-Boy.

I will keep looking. Actually I’ve been altering my routs and taking back roads looking for cub parts. Is that a sign of cubs disease?
