It is a 1962 converted to 12 volt. it started yesterday and it acted like it was cold natured then went to running like always. Put the woods mower on and now it starts right off but then dies. Drained old gas (in case that was the problem), have cleaned the carburetor (3 times) and changed out the jet using one from another cub, tried new plugs, cleaned the sediment bowl. Put new gas and still won't run.
Can anyone tell me what I am missing??

Don’t know if you have a zenith carb but mine was doing that and the elbow going into the carb has a screen attached that was clogged.

Ignition. Check with a timing light. Guessing, faulty coil. You could just swap out the coil.
You could hold another Cubfest and have us diagnose the problem.
Edit. If it were a low fuel flow problem, the tractor would run for a minute or two until the carburetor bowl emptied.

You mentioned there was a 12v conversion made. Did that include installing a 12v coil?
One of the last cubs I brought home had that done which included a new coil but the PO installed a 6v coil. The coil cooked and it barely ran. A new 12v coil made all the difference.

New coil, still the same. $28.00 12 volt No external resistor reguired. Same as the old. It is a IH carb. I'll try the timing light but can't see how it would have changed. Need a CubFest today. Lol

Ron. As long as we are spending your money.
I'm going with the ignition system because you have been through the carburetor several times.
Double and triple check the ignition system. Something to check is the condition of the points. Condenser, faulty one, engine will run like crap.
Edit. Ignition advance, check. Although this wouldn't keep the engine from starting and running.
