I would appreciate your help with this issue. I'm in the process of tearing down the motor from 1951 cub. Before I break anything, what is the best way to remove this idler gear. The bolt is out but everything is still very secure. How should I proceed? Thanks.

the hub that the bolt goes through is a light press fit in to the block, just pry some behind the gear and it should pop out, also check the bushing on that gear for play before removing it to see if the bushing needs replacing

Excellent, thank you very much for the input. The pics of the parts helped. I'll give it a try tonight after work.
