Reconnecting the gas tank
I took off the cover/gas tank years ago and forgot how to reconnect thee gas line. i cant imagine that I was able to get my hand in the gas cap hole to loosen a nut! It's tough to get old. Any ideas?

While I have the hood off, I purchased new spark plug wires. Any idea how to place them through the rubber grommet that attaches to a bolt on the top of the head ?

Re: Reconnecting the gas tank
I have found, when replacing the plug wires, that popping the grommet out of the bracket allows you to more easily fish all the wires, one at a time, out and then back in through the grommet and the bracket. Then push the grommet back into the bracket hole. Of course, if your grommet is old and stiff, it may be quite difficult.
I have also removed and cut the grommet on a diagonal, removed the old wires, inserted the new wires, then pushed the grommet back into the bracket.
Make sure you DOUBLE CHECK the wire order to the distributor cap and good luck!

Dale, he is talking about the gas line not spark plug wires.
John, yyou don't connect the line inside the tank. There should be a sediment bowl that screws into the tank and the line screws into that.

Re: Reconnecting the gas tank
Hi,
Below is a listing from TM Tractor for a new gas strainer, it looks like this one.
http://www.tmtractor.com/new/fl/314fp.htm
Below is a listing showing the gas line for Cubs with a vertical exhaust system.
The IH carburetor is shown in the 2nd row of pics.
If it has an underaxle exhaust system, it uses a different gas line.
