Thanks Don and all. I have ordered that one from Ebay. Don't know when it will arrive and how much extra it will cost me. Seller wasn't shipping to Ireland so had to thank advantage of another postal service. Probably arrive within a month. I will look around locally in the meantime. Cannot see any of them bearings for sale within Europe.

Hi,
I screw up the threads on the countershaft nut by not reassembling correctly. My bad.
Does anyone know the correct thread type of this so I can order a replacement please?

I thought tightening the nut would slide the gears down the shaft the last tiny bit. I won't make that mistake again. I read on not to do this on the forum here afterwards. Ooops.

I’m sorry to hear of your misfortune. Maybe a machinist can fix the threads on your countershaft or are they too bad to fix? I think they are all the same for the Cub. Possibly even the Cub Cadet. Maybe you can find one locally. Good Luck and God Speed, Frank

It is only the nut that threads are gone on. The shaft threads are fine. So I just need another nut.

10-4, That should be much easier to find. Do you have Cub Cadets in your area? If not a nut will be easy to find and ship. Someone probably has one laying around.

If the threads on the shaft are still OK, you should be able to use a pitch gauge and measure the threads and size. If no gauge, mark off an inch and count the number of threads in that inch.

The nut is most likely a standard sized metric or Imperial. My local hardware store has gauges in their nut and bolt aisle for both types.

If most or all of the nuts and bolts in the tractor are either metric or imperial, my guess it's that that one. Count the threads as Dale suggested, hardware store and purchase the nut in the most common bolt for the tractor. Worst that can happen is that if you purchase Imperial and it's not, then you have to purchase metric.

I believe the French Cub Parts Catalog calls out the same part number for this nut as in the US built Cubs. It should be a US standard thread.

Done a little research and found part# 70119 D is a 5/8 x 18 thread per inch jam nut such as used on some steering wheels for Cub and Cub Cadet. Standard size possibly available at local fastener store. Liam, I hope this is beneficial to you.

That may be the correct size, but it is a castellated nut (for the cotter pin), rather than jam nut.
