Rear Axel Housing Leak

Postby tim52 » Wed Jul 10, 2019 4:12 pm

I replaced the gaskets (new cork) on both rear axel housings and I get drips.

Is there a torque setting or should I have used some sort of gasket sealer?

Thanks,

Check to make sure your trans is not over full. Water gets in the trans and can cause oil to leak through the axle tubes.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I think he is talking about the final pans. I use Indianhead shellac on both sides of the gasket. Also flatten the flange on the pans to assure good contact all around.

I replaced the trans oil about the same time and the tractor is not exposed to rain.

I will check for bent metal around the housing holes.

Thanks everyone!

Tim
