Fill plugs on 1959 International Cub Lo-Boy Rear

Postby DonMountain » Thu May 16, 2019 10:39 am

I am in the process of changing all the oil in engine, gearbox and rear axles on my 1959 International Cub Lo-Boy, and can't find the filler plugs for the axle/wheel gearboxes. The drain plugs appear to be on the rear of the cast axle housing and look like maybe a 3/8" square hole for a socket wrench extension to fit in for removal. I have a Woods 59" mower deck mounted and the mounting plates may cover up the filler holes? So, does anybody know where these plugs might be?

Pretty sure they are on top...by the fender...

Getting ready to swap out mine for ones without broken bolt holes....

Those are fill plugs, not drain plugs.

You need to remove the pans from the finals to drain the gear oil.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Thank you very much Eugene. Now all of that information comes crashing back to me from the last time I did the job a bunch of years ago. I remember now purchasing new gaskets and removing those pans. Thank you very much for reminding me. Will you happen to be in attendance at the California, MO CubFest on the 18'th of this month Eugene? I am hoping to attend, but I don't think I will have my Cub all back together by then to bring it with me. I am still working on the exhaust problem and I haven't run it yet with the new clutch or resolved the ignition problem yet. Although all the parts are on it now except for the exhaust and hood, and running it and timing it.
