Fan oil filler screw washer?

Postby Dale Finch » Fri May 03, 2019 8:12 am

I was adding oil to the fan on my "new" '58 Cub, and after I removed the screw, there appeared to be the broken remains of a washer or rubber o-ring. I didn't remember one being there, so I checked the parts manual, and still am unsure.
Part #5: 1/4 Rectangular Seal Ring

Anyone know if this is available, or if there is a substitute?

Sounds like a good plan. Do other folks' tractors have this seal? I just can't remember having one on my other tractors. Probably should give them a check!

Hi,
All of them I have seen, when I removed the screw on the fan hub, had a seal on the screw.
The seal can be stuck to the hub when you remove the screw.
The parts manual says they have a seal. :)

I just use an o-ring, take the screw to an auto parts store or hardware store and get one that fits the screw.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I'm sure I've got a fiber washer that will fit it. If you want it, I'll put it in an envelope and send it your way....

That's very generous of you. :D But I think I will check out the local hardware store first...always looking for an excuse to go, and nothing planned for tomorrow. My kind of shopping spree! :{_}:
