I’ve looked at the manual about how to split a cub, and I understand the safety things like shimming the front axle, but is there a photo tutorial on how to split a cub and replace the main seal? I’ve just finished a ton of work with the brakes and seals in the rear end and oil pan and etc but the rear main still leaks. I will try to replace it this fall when I have time and help and the parts but a tutorial will be beneficial.
If there isn’t one made yet could someone make one during a cubfest? I think it would benefit more than just me!

Re: Splitting tutorial?
I'm surprised that there isn't already a HOW TO on replacing the rear seal. Any chance you could head down to the Barnyard Bash at the end of May near Cincinnati? It's a great cubfest and you could either take your tractor and get it done there with lots of good folks to help you, or you could watch/help someone else do theirs.
If they do a rear seal replacement, I will try to get the photos to get a HOW TO posted. Have you done a search on rear seal replacement? I'm sure there are several posts.

I won’t be able to make it to the bash. I have looked at as many as I could find on google. No video I could find was posted as a how to. In fact I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the front end of a split cub! Is tst still doing the rear seals and can you do a straight purchase instead of sending and waiting to have it returned?

Yes, he is still redoing the rear seals. He will probably see this and get back to you, or you can send a PM to him. He does prefer to have your old retainer, since otherwise he must replace it himself. More effort.

I understand getting one back to him. Just didn’t know if he needed it prior or if I could split, replace, put back together and then send him the old as a core.
And thank you for anyone that is willing to help make a tutorial that will get posted to the how to section!

Re: Splitting tutorial?
I had planned on separating a HOW TO out of this post I recently made. I had forgotten all about it. Maybe I will do it in the very near future.

Anyway, if you skip the parts that involved the annual maintenance items, I believe this may cover most of the rear seal replacement procedures. I will reread it tomorrow (when I am less tired) and see if it is complete.
