Hello all, this is my first post here. I've got a 1958 International Cub Lo Boy (unfortunately painted brown by a previous owner?) and I just noticed oil in the water and water in the oil yesterday. I'm mechanically inclined, although I've never done anything more advanced than changing oil, sparkplugs, and brakes, but my brother in law rebuilds old tractors all the time and is willing to help me.
However I can't seem to figure out which head gasket/gasket kit I need to get. Can anyone here help me?
I've looked at yesterdaystractors.com and a couple other sites but all I can find is kits for the later models. This is a really dumb question but do I have a C-60 engine?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Yes and there are no dumb questions here. TM specializes in Farmall Cub parts and is an excellent resource and is a site sponsor. However, you can probably get a head gasket from your local NAPA store.

Re: Head Gasket
Hi,
Welcome to the website.
The head bolt threads need sealer put on them, they go into the engine water jacket.
Some of the people on here spray the new head gasket with sealer also.
Below is a post I wrote on, with info, and pics of the sealer products. It's at my 1st post on the page.

The head bolts should be re torqued after the engine has been used, and has warmed up fully, and cooled down 1 or more times. Re torque them when the engine is cold.
Below is the Cub and LoBoy service manual. The engine is in section 1. It would be helpful to read it before working on it.

...meaning, I suppose, that I'm about to do a lot more than just a head gasket. Oh, boy...
Gaskets arrived yesterday, I'm sure I'll be back on here asking for help tonight.

Re: Head Gasket
Anything else I can use other than the specific liquid form-a-gasket for the bolts?

Re: Head Gasket
A lot of people like to use copper coat on both sides of the head gasket as a sealer.

Re: Head Gasket
Thanks to everyone who responded and gave me advice about this. Everything came apart very easily and the new head gasket install was really not hard at all.
