Transmission spline shaft seal

Postby Mht » Tue Mar 19, 2019 11:51 am

I’m resealing a transmission and purchased a national seal number 474250 based on a cross reference number I found on this forum. The seal I got is too small to fit the retainer. Has anyone else ran into this problem and if so do you have a different seal part number

I have seen this many times, I have found that the seal fits in early cub retainers, if it is a later or replacement one the hole is to big for the seal

Yes I think that is the case. I pulled a seal and retainer off a junk transmission and the new seal fit fine so the problem is solved
