Idler gear

Postby jsfarmall » Sat Jan 05, 2019 6:53 pm

I got my tractor somewhat split far enough to get the shift rod out of the way to get the idler gear out. I need just a hair to get the gear out. Does the input shaft HAVE to come out or is there a secret to getting the idler gear out without that.

I could not find the secret...had to remove input shaft both times when replacing the idler gear. I hope someone has a trick, sure would be nice.

I have never done it, but have one that needs it,, so I read the service manual in the quick links at the top of the page. It states the input shaft has to be removed. It has been a while since I read it, but I think the pinion drive has to be removed also. I believe there are some transmission repair listings in the how to section also.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I got mine.taken care of. What I had to do was split at the transmission, slid back 6 inches or so. Slid the torque shaft out just until I had room.
