403562R2 Ignition Switch Info Needed

Postby w30bob » Wed Nov 21, 2018 10:44 pm

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if the keyed ignition switch 403562R2 originally came with ring terminal connections or spades? I see it listed for Cubs, but all the switches I see say "replacement for 403562R2" and have 2 spade terminals. My original harness has been hacked to bits in this area and has 2 spades crimped on. I'm thinking that's because the switch was replaced and all the replacement switches use spades, so someone cut off the ring terminals and crimped on spades. Got a new harness and it has ring terminals and I don't want to hack up a brand new harness. So trying to figure out if the original switch had the 2 screws that accepted ring terminals........or if my harness was made wrong. I know the pull switch on my '59 uses ring terminals, but not if the later ones with key switches did.

thanks,
bob

Since no one who knows answered, I'll tell you what I saw looking at a sample of one. My '66 Lo-Boy should have that style switch. That switch is wired in with 2 spade connectors. I don't know if it has been changed, but I have no reason to think it has been. By the way, 403562R2 appears to be a changed part number. The number called out in the 1970 parts catalog for the key switch with separate starter switch tractors was 379594R92.

My '79 tractor has the 3-position key switch (off, on, start). That switch is wired in with a single 3-conductor multiplug.

Brillman company has the two pronged switch. Screw connections.

Hi J3,

Yeah, it seems the replacement that everyone sells for switch 403562R2 has spades, and the NOS one that I found has spades as well. The issue then is what did the original switch 379594R92 have for electrical connections? I just found what looks like an original exploded parts illustration for another IH tractor dash that used this switch and it shows 379594R92 as having two leads coming out of it which look to have ring terminals on the end of the leads (if you squint a lot at the blurry image). I think what I really need to do is call Porch on Monday and ask what terminations their 140 harness uses.....before I call Brillman. I'll also see if Shane can snap a pic of the backside of the dash on his 140.

Regards,
Bob
