Float bracket broke
Where the pivot pin goes through the bracket for the float broke. The bottom of the hole is broke out. Last weekend I did a temp repair with jb weld but to little surprise it didn't last long. Is there a way to fix this without getting another carb?

Identify the carburetor, then place a want ad in The Vine.

Re: Float bracket broke
I have fixed a few. I found some brass beads at a craft store that had the right ID for the pin. You'll need to take a small round craft file and enlarge the curve on the arm so that when the bead is in position, the pin is level/horizontal. Then JB weld over the top of the bead.

Re: Float bracket broke
It's an IH carb. Tried jb weld and it held.for a little bit but crumbled after couple weeks.

Re: Float bracket broke
I have soldered a cub carb with silver solder from Lowes. I was able to get good wetting of the solder on a few different carbs, cubs and others.
I had a similar problem on an old Carter model N carb but was never able to get that carb to take the solder. It may be a different enough alloy that the solder would not stick.
It may be worth a try. For that small area I would use a large soldering iron or gun, clean well, heat and use the solder to scrape the area clean while it melts. You may get a blob to stick. Still would need to drill the solder for the pin.
