Trailer Identification

I had my "new" '66 John Deere 110 out this evening again toting the chain saw back to the woods to cut up yet another blow down. She's a good running old girl. This Cub Cadet trailer belonged to my late father-in-law and is a '60's vintage too but I'd like to narrow down approximately what year it might be. I don't see any tag on it. I have pictures of my wife as a little girl riding in the trailer and she's in her mid 50's now. Any ideas what year it might be??

That is an IH #2 trailer, they made them from the late 60's until around 1980. The later ones had a serial number tag on them (starting mid 70's I think) and a larger IH decal without a border on it. So, by when they were produced, the decal appears to be the earlier one with a border and the dates you noted you likely have an early one.

Yea, as David said, there's no real way to tell the year. CC tractors started being built in 1963, and the original #1 trailer was the V shaped cement hopper style trailer. The #2 trailer came out in 1967 with the 1x4/1x5 tractors, so the 1967 through 1971 trailers would have been painted 902 white, which is a lighter, chalkier white than 935 white which is visibly creamy colored. From 1972 forward they would have been painted 935 white, to match the white on other equipment, and I also believe that is when the decal change occurred. It's hard to tell on yours, but I'm betting it's one of the earlier ones based on the decal like David mentioned.
 
I'll echo the above two comments. I've always heard that the early IH CC trailers did not have ID plates (including serial numbers, etc.) because it just wasn't something IH wanted to track or keep info on.

I like your #2 cart. You need to get a #1 like mine now. :coffee:

My wife has quit lying about her age and started bragging about it. :lol:

A very wise neighbor once told me I should never underestimate a woman, unless it was her age or weight.
