Soletrac Going out of business?

It doesn't surprise me. I don't know why anyone would want a battery powered tractor. The EV's that are being pushed upon us surely aren't wanted by most folks. Between the fire hazard, increased cost of ownership and crazy depreciation, the public for the most part, aren't interested in purchasing an EV even with the government offering money to make the purchase.

never did understand WHY the govt would endorse an idiot idea that battery powered stuff was cheaper OR cleaner and it sure aint better for the enviroment with all the dirty toxic materials being mined/processed for use making the crap!

Farming has changed a lot since I was a kid, but not that much.

Soil preparation, harvesting was a 24 hour day, weeks if not months long. Same machine, change operators every 6 to 8 hours, lunch or snack break, fuel, oil check, and lub the machine.

Can't do that with a battery powered machine.

I get a sense that this particular company, like many, never intended to put out a finished product. Someone was only in it to cash in on grants and hapless investors. That person walked away from the operation a millionaire, left a whole bunch of other people holding the bag, and there's nothing anyone can do about it because it was all in a perfectly legal contract.

Just produce enough results to get everyone excited and throwing their money in, then one morning the employees show up to a locked door with a note, "Sorry folks, we made a mistake. This isn't going to work. Thanks for all the love and support along the way. Cya!"

Stoney Ridge Farmer and Tractor Time with Tim both ran several videos reviewing the tractor. I don't know about grants and all that stuff but I think small electric like this were pretty cool and advanced. There are so many urban/country people buying the sub compacts that are used a few hours a week that it is logical because they really are simple...seemingly good for the weekend hobbyists that mow and move a little dirt and logs. They were released before they were tested enough obviously and reviewed badly. But all is not well with the complicated, electronic, million wires in a harness, unrepairable sub compacts and compacts that have to be taken to the dealer every time a seat switch malfunctions because they are complicated and suburbanite hobby people don't have the experience that you all do to fix them. Nothing is perfect...didn't JD just issue a DO NOT OPERATE the sub compacts (like the 1025R) letter to all owners because a part breaks on them. And didn't almighty JD just lay off to move some operations to Mexico because no one is buying half million dollar tractors and they won't sacrifice their billions, yes billions in profit?
Too bad they didn't work out, but I suppose every evolution of powered equipment is met with skeptic eyes and doubt
