Reverse idler gear

How do I change out the bushing for the reverse idler gear?

That would work but I hate to take the tractor totally apart just to change that one bushing

Unfortunately, a total tear down is about the only way.

You didn't say why do you think the bushing needs replacing, or if you have the shifter cover off the transmission and looked at the gear.

John, you can't get the reverse idler out without splitting? I swear I was able to do this through the top of the trans by moving the shift rails almost fully to the rear and sliding the reverse idler shaft forward.

I just put new bearings in the transmission. The idler bushing was the only thing I didn't change. I have a rattling still in mostly reverse and 3rd. Figured that's all that's left.
