Really getting dry here.

Most of the pastures are about gone. Neighbor just up the hill from me said an oak tree in his yard was whistling for his Blue Healer yesterday. Fella that bought our old farm said his Great White Peroneese (sp?) came back from chasing a squirrel with a walnut tree following him.

Linn, Mo. area, we are a bit more than 2 1/2" below normal for Jul. Probably an inch or more less than normal for June. Getting ready to clip the pasture. Not much growing there except weeds.

Checked the Missouri drought monitor. John is in the abnormally dry area. I'm just above the abnormally dry area on the map.

I have what I think, is an old septic tank in the back yard. Ground/grass above the "septic tank" has been brown for about 2 weeks. Top of the "tank" is about 3 inches below the surface. Not a lot of moisture in the top 3 inches of soil. The row crops do not look distressed. Just have to wait and see.

Neighbor's cattle, probably 60 plus head, were at the year around spring on my property, in the shade, shortly after noon. It wasn't a hot day.

Will be checking the condition of neighbors ponds and keeping any eye on neighbors crops.

I'm just a few miles east of John, and we got a very small amount of rain a couple of days back, but it didn't even settle the dust. Grass crinkles under your feet and there are cracks appearing in the ground. As usual, July and August are our dry months here in this area. Inconvenient for the farmers, but I say expected for this area.

Had a sprinkle this evening, rain drop blotches had considerable spaces between blotches. Close to next to nothing.

Was on the pasture this afternoon. Grass is only about 4 inches high. Should be close to 3 feet high with normal rain. Still have to the mow weeds.

Neighbor who combines the pasture for fescue seed, not this year. Some seed, not enough to pay combine fuel costs.

To much rain here....Not stopped cutting the grass.....nice and green...Usually its brown and crunchy....not this year....Ha...its keeping me in shape!!!Kevin

Saturday night and Sunday we got 1 inch of rain. It is so dry that today you cannot tell it rained.

Same here, John. It was a nice steady rain, but just not enough for the dry conditions that we had and have.

Received over 4" of rain about two weeks ago; caused some major flooding in KC. Then received 5.5" Sat-Sun; again, flooding. I'm mowing every 4th or 5th day, just like April-May. We'll have green grass 'til Fall.

John, somewhere between you and me, someone got just the right amount. :)

Received the 1 inch of rain Saturday night and Sunday.

Local TV weather forecaster said that this was the 13th driest summer on record for the viewing area.

The grass is being saved because of the high humidity, cooler than average temperatures, heavy AM dew and fog.
