Radiators

owner of a 1951 ih farmall cub , in dire need of a radiator, is there some place close to West Tennessee, or online where 1 can be purchased, I'd love to know, please and thank you.
About how much do they usually cost if I can find one?

Welcome to the forum. Just be aware that not all the advertised radiators advertised fit well. Do some searching on this forum for opinions. I suggest that you start with the sponsors of this forum listed on the home page. As for cost, probably in the neighborhood of $300. If you can find an "old time" radiator repair shop yours might be repairable. Also you might try posting a WTB classified add on THE VINE subforum. JMHO Stan

As Stan said, there seems to be a difference in radiators fitment. The first one I received from an online retailer had the holes wrong and the "shoulders" of the tank were more squared than the original and interfered with the hood. There was no way to make it fit. I ordered one from a more reputable source and it fit perfectly yet was only a few dollars more than the cheapo headache.

JP Tractor Salvage has new radiators that have been getting a lot of good feedback for fitting.
How do I get ahold of this JP Tractor Salvage?
I also have a puzzle , how many of you are familiar with the numbers that are on a cub tractor, reason. ( I have pics) being is that while my husband has been cleaning the cub he has run cross them but they are all different. Why??

MS Dale's post lists three of the forum sponsors. Click on the Forums button at the top left corner of this page then scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see all three of them. Stan

There are casting codes that tell the month/day/year made and part numbers cast into the major casting pieces, some have part numbers either stamped into the metal or on a tag that's usually held on by screws or rivets. Owners Manuals explains a lot of the and TM Tractor has a section on explaining some of these details and where they are located. Post some pictures and someone will help ID what you are seeing. I hope all the ones I picked you can see the last one i picked was the plate on the radiator

I see 2 pictures in your post, neither of which is a plate on the radiator. So, I assume you had at least one more picture that didn't get into the post. Every part of the tractor is assigned a "part number" that is uniquely assigned to the part. It is used for part identification when repairing or ordering replacements. The number may be permanently marked on the part or you may need to look in a parts catalog to get the number. Most IH part numbers also include one or more letters. But it is still called a "part number".

Your first picture shows the part number, 251341R1 of the engine block. Above the "R1" is another set of numbers/letters, not really visible in the picture. It is a date code, indicating the date the rough engine block was cast. Your second picture says "FIRING ORDER" along with "1-3-4-2". That is tune-up information that customarily is cast into engine blocks. Without seeing your picture of a plate on the radiator, I can say that those plates often contain the manufacturer, factory location, part number, and a date (possibly coded).

That msg means that the number of pixels (which is the file size) is too large for the forum to accept. You can resize/change this file size several different ways by utilizing different software programs. Microsoft Office has one that might already be on your PC. You can also do it on your phone if that's where your pictures are stored. JMHO Stan

I also have a 1951 and am replacing the radiator. I am either going to use Steiner's or JP Tractors. On some FB pages some are reporting that Steiner's fit well. I am leaning towards JP because the have the side brackets that I aloo need to replace.

I was looking for a good price and ended up buying from Friday Parts. It fit perfectly, no issues, and the tractor is running cool.
