Won't hurt anything and it'll help with long-term preservation. One thing I would suggest is find a way to stretch them a little so they are opened up to allow paint to get all around the coil.

I have them installed so they're stretched. Instead of painting all the bolts individually and then touching them up I'm going to spray primer then paint them in place so I'll get the springs then also.
