I have a original cub cadet with a modified mowing deck (Not original). Looking to get a mulching type deck and leaf bagger for it.
(fall is coming quick in CT) any ideas on where to look and can it be done and modified?
I can email pictures if needed.

Thanks Mike

You might get a few more answers if you posted some pics.... depending on the type of modified deck you have, could depend on how many responses you might get...

Just a thought.. :D

will do. I will snap some pictures tonight of my digital but I think I tried before to post some but couldn't? maybe it was me

The NF decks(one's after the Original decks) weren't mulching decks and had no bagging system so anything you end up with will be a custom made deal. If you have a lot of leafs you should look for a pull behind mulcher with it's own mulching and bagging system. http://www.lawnvac.com/ is a company that has been making them fora long time and some used units show up.

Another easy, and much less costly option would be a pull-behind lawn sweeper. I used one every fall and they really do a pretty good job, especially for the price.

Agri-Fab still makes them: http://www.agri-fab.com/lawnsweep45_0320.html

Parker has made them for many years, and some were even painted white and sold by Cub Cadet: http://www.minutemanintl.com/parker/estate.html

One trick to cut down on volume is to mow over the leaves once, then drag the sweeper around to pick up the already cut-up leaves.

I switched my deck to the Gator mulching blades, and although the deck is an older design and has no mulching plug for the discharge the Gators give good mulching action with it and are available on e-pay for less than the cost of OEM straight blades. I bought an Agri-Fab tow behind sweeper 3 years ago at TSC and use it while mowing to avoid raking and in the fall for leaves- it works great.

Hey Mike...THERE YA HAVE IT Son...REAL GOOD advice from folks who know. Leave your Cub Cadet unmodified (except for the mulchin' blades) and use a pull behind sweeper to give you a leaf-free lawn in the Fall.
