Mike, as Eugene said, a cylinder is a simple device. It has one moving part, the piston/rod assembly. Depending on the cylinder design, the rod will have some sort of seals, packing or gland in the end cap to seal up around the rod. The piston will have some sort of seals or cast iron rings. There will probably be an o-ring at each end of the tube where it meets the end cap. Tear down and reassembly is easy. The hardest part may be getting the new seals in the cylinder cap for the rod. One thing to check upon reassembly is to make sure the cylinder caps remain square with the tube and parallel with one another. Torque the tie rods evenly to keep things squared up.
