It Can Stop As Far As I'm Concerned

We have over eleven inches of snow in the barnyard. I need to shovel in front of the gate so I can get the tractor out to clear the driveway. The county hasn't even started on our road yet.

Generally, if we get a flurry, we see the state truck go by but then we actually get a serious snow, we didn’t see them at all till late day. Now that the event has passed, we’ve seen them a half dozen times.

We got around 12 inches here at my place in Missouri. Ste. Genevieve, about 40 miles southeast of me came in just under 14 inches. St. Louis got a few inches less, maybe in the 8 to 9 inch range. Plow the driveway yesterday after the snow quit with my 1986 Ford 1310 4WD tractor.

We got 8" here in lower Michigan. Further north of us got a lot less. We've had strong winds here over the past couple days so the snow drifts are getting pretty good. Lots of snow blown back over the back roads here as well. Definitely a much harsher winter than prior years.

We have not had a winter like this since 2020-2021, and that was just average. Our last "big" winter was 2010-2011 when we had 86" for the season.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Barnyard, Clear your driveway. The county will be through very quick. Works every time. Vern

Had about 6-8 inches of snow Saturday night/Sunday morning. Then started sleeting about 10am Sunday until 9PM Sunday night. Went out Monday morning and tried to push snow with the 860 and a backblade--no luck. Even with fluid filled tires and chains the 860 just wanted to spin and couldn't make it to the driveway from the barn (long uphill slope). My driveway is not flat and steep in one place. Wound up using the 4-wheel ATV with a winch operated plow on the front. Had to break through the crust with transfer shovel and then nibble away at it for the rest of the day.

On the CT shoreline we got about 12 and then sleet on top making a nice crust. I did it once after about 6" and the cub did fine with the craftsman plow to tidy up. The sidewalks are the killers. Outs is right on the street on the curb and a 2ft with boxwoods going up to a 6ft rock wall and the house on the other side. House built in 1650 so the road built around the house. Hard because no place to put the storm and the 3 ft street berm with salt in it. Had to snow blow the 150ft sidewalk...the worst part of storms for me. For the sleety stuff I used the Ferguson 35 with an old N series plow frame and chains for the bulldozing. That is a beast. I put a plow on the IH 504 bucket and a plow on the JD 3020 but they would fire up. Then I went and did the 3 neighbors. Long day

maybe a couple inches here total. it split and went around us but the cold didnt!! Right in the middle of it!
