Independence Day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA!!!!!! It did not just happen by chance but many, some great and some small paid the price for the opportunity to celebrate 250 years of freedom! HAIL TO THE STARS AND STRIPES----LONG MAY IT WAVE!!!!! JMHO, Stan

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Independence Day.
I hosted my annual shoot yesterday and always a fun way to celebrate our freedom. Got to shoot a 480 Ruger pistol. I like the big bores including my own hand cannon: a 45/70 custom JDJ Contender and have taken a number of deer with it. I have to say that 480 is about as stout as any pistol I ever shot. The owner got his forehead blemished with that beast and that was enough for him. Had a great time with friends and have a few firearms to clean now. Michigan just changed the firearm laws and now allows deer hunting in the lower part of the state with bottle-neck cartridges. Hand loaded some ammo for my .300 Winchester A-bolt, which did little more that occupy space in the safe. Not anymore!

Ironically my neighbors weren't firing off fireworks like they always do on July 4th. There are some of us who remember the 200th anniversary and Case and IH had anniversary versions of certain models.
