Hood latch

The spring loaded hood latches do not hold the hood down! Any suggestions for correcting the problem?? Dusty B

Make sure the hood itself is fitted properly.

It can be tricky to get the hook into the correct position to latch properly, especially if the hood is out of shape as Jim suggested. I have to push the hood over and down on my H, while insuring the spring loaded latch is pushed up as far as possible. Even then I can't do it without looking to see where the hook is positioned.

Dusty, I have a Farmall C that the hood was impossible to get to pull up. I took some copper tubing and slipped it over the hook end and made an extension to the latch and it pulls itself into position. Like Jim and Rick said, make sure its in the proper position, but the tubing trick worked for me

If you want some real fun, try latching one that in it's past went up and over backward onto a concrete floor, and due to finances it was just hammered out some rather than replaced.
