I am new to the Farmall site.

I have purchased 8 acres of land and been keeping my eye out for a small tractor to take care of it.

Driving down the road the other day I saw a bright red "Farmall" I checked out the serial number and it is "FAA 37378" Can you guys help me with which Farmall tractor this is? It has a belly mower and it looks great and the gentleman told me over the phone that it runs great. He is asking $1500. I know this is not a lot of information but any help y'all can provide would be appreciated.
 
That would be a Farmall A - it is a very handy little tractor. Perfectly sized to your 8 acres. If it is indeed in good mechanical shape, that price is a good one.
If you are unfamiliar with farm tractors perhaps you can have a friend or relative who is more acquainted with them go with you to check it out.

Or if you give us your general location, perhaps someone from the board who is near to you could assist you.
 
It is a Farmall A. That serial number is 1940 (late '40). If taking care of your land means mowing it and maybe pulling a trailer around, this model would be an excellent choice. If taking care of it includes doing a large garden (or maybe pushing snow), you may want to hold out for a tractor with hydraulics (Super A or Cub). An A or Super A has nearly 2x the power of a Cub.

That price seems pretty reasonable, based on the description given. But seeing is believing.

Yes it will be used mostly to keep the grass short.

By the way I am located in north central AR

There was also a Farmall that was a tricycle style I believe it had a "C" on the hood. I did not look at it real close but the gentleman mentioned that he wanted $2000 for it.
 
An A is a good rig, but the lack of hydraulics on them seriously limits their usefullness. implemets for an A or hard to find sometimes. the C is a good rig, assuming it has hydraulics.
