Cub Maintenance information

Hi All,
I have ordered a manual for my Cub but want to go ahead and get started on some routine items.
The questions I have are:

1.What weight oil do you guy's reccomend?

2.What is the part number for the oil filter element and can this be purchased at an auto supply like NAPA?

3.What would be a good number for cylinder compression?
I want to see if this might be my problem with low power.

4.What is the number of the reccomended spark plugs?

Welcome to the board and to the cub family!

If you go to the Cub Manual link below, there is more than enough info to help you with your questions.

Engine oil - 30w, Gear Oil - 90 W, Hydraulic Fluid - Hy Trans

Also, at the top of this forum is a sticky note - Announcement: New Members and Visitors, Please READ. You will find all the links you need to get the info required. As for the element - the cross ref numbers for Napa etc are on the CUB FAQ's link there. The manual server has the owners manual, the service manuals and tons of other stuff. Lots to read.

Don't forget to order the TC-37F Parts Manual and the GSS-1411 Service Manual to accompany your Owner's Manual. They are all available at http://www.binderbooks.com.

Those three manuals are intrinsic to the good health of your Cub.

Yea, I guess that would have been a good idea.

Being male, that's kind of like stopping and asking for directions.

Ron. Rudi's advise is what you should do first. There is ton's of info on the home page "Cub Info" & "H.L.Chauvin". It seems most people on the board use "Champion D-21" plugs. Fram "C-235" is another oil filter choice. I believe the new cub specs on compression was about 120 psi. I have read here that 70 & 80's run pretty well. I have never checked mine, but should.
