Adding hydraulics to a cub cadet??

I noticed on the cub cadet pics on the net that they drive it off the rear of the engine. I haven't looked at my cub yet to see if there is an extra pulley on the flywheel side of the motor. I was thinking of a project to fab a front loader on one of my cub cadets. I figure if the front laoder project goes well I may build a small backhoe for it too. Has anyone done this yet?? I figure my 70 cub cadet will be too small in HP so i may use my 100 and put in a new 12 or 14hp motor. I think the little tractor with these options would do more chores than a larger tractor around my yard can do right now. I still need a larger tractor but the little cub cadet will get it done for now.

Hi Bill: Most loaders have their own hydraulic pump and it runs off the front PTO which has a clutch. The PTO on a loader won't be used for the mower deck as they won't work with the loader on. There is a hydraulic unit available for lifting front & rear implements that are nice to have if you can find them. They run off the unused pulley on the flywheel of all narrow frame Cubs. The 10 or 12 HP work better on loaders. P.F. Engineers from Amherst, MA(413-256-4960) has very good plans for Cub Cadet loaders and backhoes.

I have a 100 and a 122 cub cadet but i may add a 14hp engine to a loader if i build it. I drove the 7hp/70 around and the 12hp/122 and the 122 sounds and feels like it has so much more grunt. What a difference 5hp can make. These little guys are so cool too.
