Bigdog’s Buckeye Cub Tug Celebrates 20 Years with “The Homecoming” in Somerset

SOMERSET, OH — July 25–26, 2025

For twenty years, Farmall Cub tractor lovers have made their way to Ohio, for a gathering unlike any other. This year, the 2025 Bigdog’s Buckeye Cub Tug & CubFest Reunion marks a major milestone: the 20th anniversary of an event born from a simple idea shared by the Ratliff family back in 2005. That idea—a family-style gathering for antique tractor enthusiasts—blossomed into a nationally recognized celebration of friendship, mechanical know-how, and Farmall Cub tractor heritage.

Co-hosted this year with Doug & Bonnie Miller, the event offers a laid-back blend of tractor show, community reunion, and summertime fun, all free and open to the public.

Friday, July 25: CubFest Homecoming

Festivities begin Friday morning at 416 S. Columbus Street with Bigdog’s Big Breakfast Buffet. The rest of the day is dedicated to the CubFest, where visitors of all skill levels can learn to drive and repair vintage Farmall Cubs—tractors built between 1947 and 1979 that helped replace the two-horse team on family farms.

A swap area will be set up with parts and implements, and experts are always nearby to help get a tired Cub running again. Friday evening features the Barnyard Dinner Buffet, followed by Barnyard Karaoke hosted by Tootle’s DJ Services, and Lildog’s Homemade Ice Cream Buffet for a sweet ending under the stars.

Saturday, July 26: The Cub Tug Pull

Saturday kicks off with Lildog’s Mongolian-Style Omelet Buffet, a made-to-order breakfast favorite. At 1:00 p.m., the Cub Tug begins at Somerset Memorial Park—a non-competitive tractor pull exclusively for Farmall Cubs and Cub Lo-Boys. Don’t own a Cub? No problem. You can borrow one and learn to drive right on site.

From noon to 3 p.m., the Sheridan Soccer Club will be serving lunch at trackside—a delicious way to refuel before evening festivities.

Saturday Night: Music, Ice Cream & Memories

The “Golden Shaft” trophy—a traveling honor with a Cub part added by each year’s winner—will be awarded Saturday evening during the “Best Leftovers You’ll Ever Eat” Dinner Buffet.
Then guests will settle in for Country Music Under the Stars, a free outdoor concert by Nashville recording artist Sara Simmons, known for her rich vocals and intimate storytelling.

During the set break it’s time for round two of Lildog’s Homemade Ice Cream Buffet, a tradition that’s almost as beloved as the tractors.

The Heart of the Tug

From its earliest days in Stoutsville to its vibrant life in Somerset, Bigdog’s Buckeye Cub Tug has grown into a treasured annual ritual. It’s a chance to celebrate America’s agricultural past, swap stories with old friends, and introduce new folks to the timeless charm of Farmall Cubs. The weekend is a gift from one family to their community—and this year’s “Homecoming” promises to be one of the best yet.

Admission is free, and donations for meals are welcomed to benefit local families in need.
