2-Point blade repair

Dad got this 2-point scraper blade with the Farmall Super C that he bought around 40 yrs ago. One of the hitch prongs was bent making it almost impossible to hook up to the tractor. Decided to throw it on the Gator and bring it down to the shop to see if I could straighten it. I still have to test fit but I think I got it and it took about 15-20 minutes to heat and hit it with a sledge hammer a couple of times. I'll bring the Super C down tomorrow and give it a test before I put it back together.

Always though one of those blades would be nice to have making ditches/waterways and having more side tilt more than just what you can get from tilting the Fast Hitch. Don't ever recall seeing one at any local auctions.

I have one of those blades and had the exact same problem and did the same thing. Mine was the big prongs version so I had to cut down the prongs. The bigger problem I had and have is that when you throw the lever to seat the 2 couplings the tension on the castle nut has to "perfect" or the lever won't completely seat or it will pop loose when using. That is my only complaint.

I can see that might be a problem. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Brought the Super C down and tried the hitch. It slides in and locks good now. Think I will run a flap disc over the prongs and grease them up good. Time to start putting it back together.

I think I found the Model number for this on a Case IH parts lookup. They call it a

Case IH 1 - INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER BACKFILL BLADE(01/58 - 12/75)

Got the blade back in one piece. Need to find a couple cotter pins the right size and it should be ready for a test.

Made a test pass in the driveway and it looks like its going to work just fine. Need to buy some new bolts for that set the blade tilt.

I think that is how it got bent in the first place. One prong probably came loose and tweeked it. The grease will be gone before long and hopefully it will be polished some so it will slide in without any problem.
