18th Annual Barnyard Bash 2025

Just in case you have not done a rebuild before (certainly don't want to insult your experience level)...

Before you disassemble the touch control, scrub it with some kerosene and brush to remove any crud!

Did you get the correct rebuild kit for it? (You probably already know...based on the block part #)

You might consider printing off the appropriate HOW TO for your block, so the instructions are at hand.

If you want, I can bring a couple items that help with the rebuild...some tools, silverware tray for parts, etc.

Also, suggest you bring at least at least a couple cans of carb or brake cleaner! Plus, of course, hydraulic fluid for reassembly.
Dale, please bring the silverware tray! I rebuilt a new style block at the bash with your assistance in 2021, but I'm sure I'll need a refresher or a few of your special tools to remove the internal valves as I did last time. Planning to pull the TC block next week and hose it down.
Was the O-ring size chart you had last time something you made up or was it on the how-to?

I made it. I found a couple errors later, but it still helped. OK, I'll pack stuff in! 🙂

Bill, I am hoping to do a rear split on one of my '55 cubs to (probably) replace front and rear bearings and leaky front transmission seal. I have new bearings, spare used gears and an entire spare transmission, if needed. Maybe the experts can find whatever is causing "loose/floppy noise" with clutch pedal depressed. The noise level is "normal cub noise" while mowing...it just seems like the spline shaft is "loose" in the front & rear bearings while in neutral. I need some good diagnostics!!😉

I also have a right axle leak...thinking the RH rear axle nut oil seal, and maybe the O-ring. I'm hoping that it will be a rather quick & easy fix, EXCEPT that I have a fast hitch with belly mower (yours!) mounted! 😣😖

Anyway, I hope to be able to park inside in a quiet corner, since you know how slow I can be!!

I plan to stop by Danny Stone's in KY and pick up a spare final & a couple other small items for another cub, so let me know if you need something from him. I plan to arrive a tad early, so I can help you set things up (hide tools!) ...maybe midday Wednesday. If you need more help, I can be there a day earlier.

Looking forward to another great Bash!
Hi Dale, I can help out if you need any help. Not bringing my tractor this year, just coming to hang out and help out.

At Cubbrian's request, I'll be bringing my tire tools along. If anyone is wanting to replace tubes or tires I can provide the labor. You have to supply your own tires/tubes.

I plan to bring an early TC block to rebuild, bringing it off of the tractor already
If Brian hadn’t asked, I would have! I’m gonna make sure I have good inner tubes this time. And I think I’ll also be rebuilding at least one block, maybe two.

My Dad and I had a great time at the bash Bill! Thank you for having us, we look forward to it every year!

Got home Sunday night about 9:30PM. Thank you to Bill and Rosie for hosting the Barnyard Bash! It’s always a good time. Thanks to Rosie and all of the ladies that helped provide the food for us. You all did a great job! It was good to see everyone again, as usual. Until next year, stay safe. We will see you all again hopefully.
