184 Transmission level

I am doing the fluid change on my new to me 184, I have read the owners manual and service manual and the only specification I can find is put 7 quarts of Hytran in the fill plug but as we all know a regular cub has a level plug and does not hold nearly 7 quarts and so does this 184 so am I crazy or do you ignore the level plug and just fill it to the fill plug with 7 quarts? Thanks

Maybe what you are seeing different in the amount is the fact that the trans acts as the reservoir for the hydraulic system (if it's like the 154). That's probably why the amount is different. JMHO Stan

That’s what I was thinking, It’s hard to ignore the level plug after working on cubs old habits die hard. I guess I will know how good the axle seals are.

Ignore the level plug! The 184 is filled to the bottom of the fill plug, just like the 154. The hydraulic system needs more fluid to better control oil temperature as the transmission gears are also making hand contributing heat.

Thanks for clearing that up , I will fill it up and stop worrying.
