Hello from Belgium.
I'm doing my Farmall Cub engine.
I'm done with the mechanical part.
Have to start with the settings from the governor and the magneto.
Anyone you can guide me?
No experience with gasoline engines, only diesel.
Many thanks in advance.

What stan said will get you started in the right direction for both questions. Come back here for any additional questions or needed details. However, the first thing you need to do, before touching anything else on the tractor, is put a jack under the bell housing (torque tube) to get the weight of the tractor off of the oil pan.

Hi,
Thanks for the pictures.
The engine has a Battery Ignition unit, IH called it. It has a distributor, the part of it with the round cap.
It isn't a magneto, a magneto is different. They were available on the Cub too.
They both have ignition points in them that need checking, and filing, or replacing.
Below are pages from a manual on here showing the Battery Ignition unit, and the points in it.

The spark plug gap should be .023 inch, the Cub owner's manuals say.
The engine should have the timing set using a timing light, when running, the Cub service manual says. :)
