Loading a tricycle tractor

I plan to haul my BN but I don't have three ramps the same length. I have a set of 8 foot and a set of 10 foot ramps. Is there any safe combination of two f one lengh and one of the other that would be safe to use. The trailer is a deck over.

I don't want to end up being mentioned by Ricky Racer in a post on here about a guy rolling his tractor over in southern Ohio.

as long as the outside ones are the same, --- the third one dont matter so much. I would go longer ones outside and 1 shorter one for the front wheels. That would keep the front end lower on the way up. --- thats the way I load them,--have for eons!

Just a word of advice. Don't set up a video camera to record the loading of your tractor. It's much easier to deny your foolishness when it's not on film!! :bellylaugh:

I know I'm not experienced enough to do it, but I've seen guys load and unload narrow front tractors with just the two ramps. Driving the front tire(s) onto one ramp and then when the front is on the trailer, turning the tractor to where the back tires will go up the ramps. I'm just not experienced enough to do it with the narrow front tractors I had, so I bought a trailer with the third ramp.

I used to do the 2 ramp method when hauling my Cockshutt 20, but when I got my new trailer, the ramps are much longer and I just couldn’t get the hang of it. Bill, just do as Sonny mentioned, you’ll be fine. Portland bound in a couple hours!

Thanks Gary, You and Steve did such a great job on rebuilding that engine, I figured I would get it out to a show. I just wish I could have painted it. See you Monday.

Well, because of the difference in style of the ramps I have to put the long ramp in th middle. I can’t get the long ones to center up on the outside.

Looks like a road trip in the short term Bill. That looks like a lotta tongue weight, maybe you got more to load and counterbalance it. Hope you guys have a great event. JMHO Stan

I usually haul my Cub toward the front and put the golf cart with a few other items on the rear and the load rides pretty good. The BN weighs two or three hundred pounds more so I figure it should be okay. I always measure how high my hitch is when empty and again when loaded. If the difference is an inch or so it rides fine. So far it is an inch and a half. I figure after the cart is on it will be about an inch.

I know this is a slightly older topic and has plenty of responses, but here is a video (not mine) on loading a narrow front tractor onto a trailer using just the two ramps.
