surging questioni adjusted the carb adjustment but it still surges a bit. is there something on the governor that i can adjust?
Re: surging questionI will offer the simple fix.... clean the jet with a piece of phone wire.
If it seems to be OK at an idle or with 1/2 choke, it is pretty often a chunk of something is restricting the fuel flow. After that there is an adjustment on the governor. I am not too wise about it, but it's in the service manual. 1971 Cub (Rufus) 1950 Cub (Cathy) 1965 Lo Boy Fast Hitch (Nameless III) 1970 Cub 1000 Loader & Fast Hitch (Lee)
Re: surging questionIs it surging at all throttle settings, or just at idle?
The bumper spring on the governor can be turned in, but if you turn it in too far, it will affect low idle RPM's.
Re: surging questionRob, is this a new problem? If its old, it could be mismatched parts in the carb.. Ed

Re: surging questionit usually surges under load. ok at idle
Re: surging question
Long time problem? Could be fuel flow, low fuel level in carburetor bowl, or partially plugged main jet. New problem, partially plugged main jet. I have an excuse. CRS.
Re: surging questioni don't believe its mismatched because it ran well before
Re: surging questionI vote for the main jet..... Can't hurt to clean the strainer, fuel bowl too.
Shut the fuel off, 3/8" wrench, let it drain as you pull the jet out (brass/bronze 'nut' on the side of the carb). You can just blow it out too.... but a thin piece of soft wire works well. 1971 Cub (Rufus) 1950 Cub (Cathy) 1965 Lo Boy Fast Hitch (Nameless III) 1970 Cub 1000 Loader & Fast Hitch (Lee)
