2012 Spring Garden - ******Updated******Here is some pictures of my garden this year.
I planted an area twice the size of last years. It is approxiamately 100 feet by 200 feet. I planted 12 rows of zipper peas, 4 rows of cream 12 peas, 6 rows of corn, 2 rows of okra, 1 row of squash and cucumbers, and 1 row of watermelons and cantaloupes. I have already plowed the corn 2 times and the peas 1 time. My new to me cultivators, side dresser and 186 planter seems to be doing a good job. I have as good of a stand as I have ever had. We have been getting rain showers on a regular basis and that has also helped. Now if I could learn how to plant it straight I would be happy. I just have too many things to watch at one time(seed, fertilizer and where I am going).

Re: 2012 Spring GardenSomebody last year called it "contour planting". What ever you call it, I seem to be good at it.

Re: 2012 Spring GardenTim,
Your garden looks good, and for those interested - - - (100 X 200) / 43560 = .459 acre. A sizable garden patch, in my book. As for your contour planting, take a look at this http://www.google.com/imgres?q=contour+farming&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1024&bih=653&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=gIVMNaSlNjVfIM:&imgrefurl=http://www.visualphotos.com/image/2x2913932/farms_and_contour_strip_farming&docid=VKABqUpm0xrNdM&imgurl=http://www.visualphotos.com/photo/2x2913932/farms_and_contour_strip_farming_cb052834.jpg&w=700&h=487&ei=83h_T-eVC4Si9QTtsanmBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=532&vpy=4&dur=2188&hovh=187&hovw=269&tx=190&ty=122&sig=105308276723350144091&page=3&tbnh=141&tbnw=201&start=28&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:28,i:142 Bill "The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing shop." Re: 2012 Spring GardenMr. Bill,
If my rows were longer, I think they would look just like that. They tend to have a curve in them. "I ain't believing this!"
Re: 2012 Spring GardenI wish it would dry out so we could get started... I'm kinda envious... Looks great, Tim!

Re: 2012 Spring GardenWe have had an unusually warm spring here in Mo., more like early summer than spring. I planted a good bit of my garden 3 or 4 weeks earlier than normal. We are having a cold snap right now, no frost yet, but the frost may get a lot of it, or at the least set it back some, just have to wait and see. Normally in this area you do not get gardens planted till first part of May.
