My first thought is that the transmission is over-filled. Most likely due to water infiltration. I'd drain the case, flush it and re-fill with the proper amount of 90 wt. gear lube (3 1/2 pints).

A 175 MF would have a seal on the transmission input shaft that may have developed a leak, and if is a "multi-power" tranny, they can have some leak issues in the bell housing as well, but first check the fluid level. there should be a dipstick on the right side of the rear end case just above the foot board.

It is hydro/trans fluid, when I got tractor I changed it acording to the manual and it takes 8 gallons,it runs the 3 point and hydrolics.I dont think its a seal because it was running out at a pretty good stream. I caught most of it with funnel and can and only leaked when it was running. Are there presure lines in that area? Thanks again Mike

David,Thank you very much for the help.I got several things to check in the morning, but think I found my problem. I really like this tractor, bought it for $1200.had to replace head gasket and adjust valves, runs great so if I have to put money in trans its still worth it. plus had 4 new tires on it and 14-9x30 aint cheap. thanks again Mike

The first tractor I ever drove (on my grandpa's lap, I only could steer) was on MF 175. My grandpa farmed with MF all of his tractor years. Started with 8n's, still curses them, and moved to a MF 35, 135, 165, and 175. I spent hours playing on and driving with these. He had a loader on the 175 and used it daily until it was sold at his auction. I wish I had been older, 15 at the time and lived in town, so buying it was out of the question. I did earn my respect for farmers and their tractors on these machines. That is where it all began, I guess, but I'll have to use my Cubs instead. Maybe some day, I'll have a place big enough, to get a 175 or 165 and the memories will all flow back.
