Hi,
I thought I would post this again, if you are checking, or changing, the Touch Control fluid.
When some years of the Farmall Cubs were new, there was a sticker on the left side of the hood, above the Touch Control that said,
"Always check oil level and fill when rockshaft arms are in rear position"
The operator's manual says that also.
There is an airspace in the top of the unit. The Touch Control fluid level rises when the arms go to the rear, or down position. So if you check the fluid with the arms in the ahead, or up position, it will look low on fluid, even if it has the right amount.
If you filled it with the arms ahead, it has too much fluid in it. I would remove the filler plug, run the engine, move the lever to the rear, and let the excess fluid run out.
Just some info in case you didn't notice it.
Below are pages from the 1955 Cub operator's manual telling about the Touch Control system, and the pics show where the fill and drain plugs are.
The 3rd page tells how to change the fluid, and remove the air from the system. Be sure to do what it says in paragraph 4, to remove the air. The arms should go through their full travel 10 - 12 times.

Nowadays they make Case IH Hy-Tran fluid for the Touch Control. It is sold at Case IH dealers.
There are other brands, look on the package and be sure it works with IH systems before buying it.
Below is a pic of the sticker from TM Tractor.

Re: Checking The Touch Control Fluid
YES
Thanks for re-posting this.. Good information..
I did mine today (drained and filled) and will probably do it again as I got crud and foamy fluid out of the drain.
ONE caveat
I learned the hard way, move the drain pan from on top of the mower before cycling the system.
ooops

Re: Checking The Touch Control Fluid
One point to be made...open the FILL plug BEFORE you loosen the drain plug!!! There can be a lot of pressure pushing that fluid out through that tiny drain plug hole!!
