Project 1650

Postby wagonmaster » Wed Oct 03, 2018 8:29 pm

Well it looks like another project landed on my trailer and followed me home. I have been passing by this 1650 for a wile now ware it was pushed back in the weeds a couple years ago . The other day I saw a guy splitting wood a few feet away from it so I stopped and looked at it. He said it belonged to his nephew then texted my name and number to him. It's been a couple years since it ran but I'll figure it out. I really didn't think that with all the stuff with it [ 44 inch deck, tiller, snow blower, a couple good spare spindles with blades and a snow blade off some other brand tractor] that I would be able to buy it at a reasonable price. He called and asked if I would give $100 for it all and I saw no reason to try to talk him down any. Done deal. I hope to get a chance to work on it this winter.

You hit the motherload at a that price. And as Ricky stated, we NEED pictures.

Yes, I was expecting him to want much more. I hope to learn how to send pictures this winter. I am not to skilled with this internet thing. So far all I have done to it is blow the crud off it and remove the 44inch deck, witch looks to be in vary good condition for its age although the spindles sound dry when I spin them. I will update but for now it goes into the land of future projects until maybe January.

today I picked up the snow blower that was part of the deal. When I saw it on the barn floor I told the guy that's not like any CC I have ever seen, its much better. Its a big black 2 stage but says Cub Cadet on the top of it.45 wide 21 tall . It is big, It is heavy, Its on my trailer. Tough to make out the numbers on the tag . Looks like model # 311-045 and 195364 and K or maybe its a N094D . No luck searching the net .Maybe some one else can tell me what I have. Bad news is that its missing the gear box and half the driveshaft.

Congrats on your new project tractor.

Here are a couple links to other threads on how to upload pictures:

Good news. I found the drive unit for the snow blower in the pile of parts I got when I picked up the tractor a month ago.

That is probably a model 364 45" snow thrower.

Thanks for the links Stanton but it is speaking a language that I don't understand. Maybe I can get a grand kid to translate for me.

It RUNS !!!!!!! Was able to get it into the cub house a couple months earlier than expected so after a few hours of tinkering it came to life after being down for at least 3 years that I know of. PO has rewired and messed it up a little so I had to bypass the ign. switch and jump the starter solenoid but it runs. I still have to figure out the mess but I think I do have a clue . Wont be able to work on it tomorrow but will get back to it soon.

Update: I cannot believe how many hours I have invested in this just tinkering, tightening, and adjusting things. Glad its a labor of love and I don't have to pay for the labor. Among other things, I have the wiring figured out, a new ign. switch, a cradle modification upgrade, and new motor mounts. Hopefully the motor goes back in tomorrow with a new rubber coupler to drive shaft. Later.

Pictures? You have me confused me with someone that knows how to operate a computer. Not much to see, its just your average cc that's been left outside to many years. I hope to turn it into a solid worker.

When I had it running before I tore it apart, all it would do is idle. Anything more than a idle it would shake, knock and sound like it was going to grenade. Got it back together today and it runs GREAT!!! Hard to believe that the problem was just a missing condenser. What a difference. Lots more to do, like change the hyd. oil & filter and many other things. I'm out.

I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. After 80 to 100 hours on this project, I'm getting close to the end. Got that bigass 364 snow blower on today and tried it out on some big wet slushie piles of snow . Worked great but I need to find a way to put some weight on the back. About all that is left is to put the nose, muffler tins and hood on and new tail lights. Later
