Trip out west

Postby Jeff Silvey » Sat Sep 15, 2018 7:23 am

Well the trip started out good all the way to Custer, SD. Had a great time at all the planned places we visited. While in Custer we had a mishap with our truck just 3 miles from entrance to Mt. Rushmore. I even had a traffic safety vest with us I even directed traffic so we wouldn't get hit, it was at the end of a curve. The damage to the truck was the right front fender, head light area, & corner of the hood ever thing on damage was on the outside of the frame rail. Air bags did not go off. Ill have them check them out. The Park Rangers were great they called back on the radio (not a cell phone no service) to their shop to get tin snipes & zip ties to get us back on the road. Even the guy that turned in front of me helped get us back on the road. It did look like a Nascar fix kind of, no duck tape. We went on to Mt. Rushmore did what we want to do. Got ahold of our insurance company, they call back on Tuesday to get in the shop. It goes in the shop on Monday. We got home on Friday afternoon, 9/14/18 unloaded. Like to say thanks to everyone that replied or texted us on our well being. At least we didn't get hurt.

A trip you’ll always remember, and everyone got home safe. So all’s well that ends well.

It is great that the only damage was metal and not flesh and bones. I'm glad you were able to drive it home.
