1000 series and 1500 series deck interchange

Postby staninlowerAL » Mon Aug 20, 2018 8:28 pm

Anyone know if a MTD built CC 1000 series LT 1042 42 inch cut deck will interchange with a MTD built CC 1500 series 38 inch cut deck? Thanks.

Re: 1000 series and 1500 series deck interchange

I've done some looking into this topic and found that starting in about 2000 for the CC 1000, 1500 and 2000 series (and maybe others) the size of the deck is a code letter in the tractor SN. Letters are F=38", G=42", H=46", P=50", K=54". I've also found that even though the same size deck (example G=42") was available for different models in different years the actual part number identifies what year and model the deck fits. Example is part number 683-04171 is the 42" deck shell for a 2005, Model 1042 with SN 13BX11CG710. It appears that changes were made from year to year, hence the different part numbers. It's possible the different part number of the same size might work on another year from the original year made but will require some modifications. I'll soon find out.
