Question on moldboard plow

Postby BullDAWG » Sun Aug 12, 2018 6:53 pm

I need help, I've seen pics of super a using a 2 bottom moldboard or disc plow BUT every super a I see on Craigslist that comes with a plow has only a single bottom plow. My questions are can my super a pull a 2 bottom plow, if yes then what's the IH designation/number? If my super a can't pull it in hay fields then can cub plows work on a super a. I really like the Cubs 2 way plow (cub 193 I think)

I have an acquaintance that owns a Super A with a 14-2 plow (fast hitch) and have plowed with it. It was in clay that had been fallow for a year and IMO it was too much plow for the tractor and soil conditions.

It was known as an A-295, later version was A-295A. It was two 12" bottoms. If the tractor is in decent shape it'll pull it fine. If you're worried about plowing down hay ground, find an A-193, single bottom. They were usually 16" bottoms though they could be 12" or 14". Be sure if you go that route you get a Super A version and not the Cub version!

The cub plow won't work on a Super A for a number of reasons.

My Super A came with a cub 193 12" plow and plows beautifuly. I took the belt pulley off for more room. Only issue I had was it was a little too close to the rear wheel some times. I since got a 193 Super A plow 16". Pulls if fine in first but second really works the tractor.
