Does anyone have more photos of this 130?

Postby radioguy41 » Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:55 am

On an episode of Classic Tractor Fever on RFD-TV they showed this Tennessee Highways Dept International 130 and what caught my eye was the wire screening over the sickle bar. This is the only photo I could find. Anyone have additional photos or know of a website where there might be more? I'm really looking for more and better pictures of that screening as I'm thinking of doing something like that on my Cub's sickle mower. Thanks.

That's a great idea. We were at an auction once and a guy tripped and fell and one of the guards went in beside his eye and they had to call an ambulance. Not sure what became of it. I've seen black gutter pipe split and put on it but with the screen you would still be able to see it.
God is good, all the time!

I would think you could fold hardware cloth over the rock guards and use wire ties to hold it in place.

I use the 4" flexible plastic gutter pipe and it snaps into place perfectly.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. What I'm looking to do is provide some protection from folks sticking their fingers in the cutter but still allowing someone to see what it looks like when displaying at a tractor show.

I've got a couple pictures. But they are no help on answering your question. On the bottom side, it wraps as far as the back of the guards. There may be a wire between each pair of guards tying the top and bottom together.

Thanks Jim. Yeah, I figured it would be a longshot that anyone would have pics of the screening. Oh well, time for the old trial & error method. :)

mower 53 -2.JPG

picture of my 53,
the screen I used was 3/8" the metal on the front of the guards is 3/4" x3/4" x3/4"-- U --channel , bend screen in half and pop rivet it on using washers.
The metal on the back side is 3/4" bar stock --Held on mower with small bungee will try to get some close up pictures today if I can limp that far.

All the shows I go to require the cutter bar be covered and locked in place. I used this method so you can still see the cutting part of bar.

Thank you very much. Sorry about your health problems. I've had 5 knee ops (3 on the right, 2 on the left), including a major reconstruction on the right side back in the mid 1970's. After the last one the doc said he'd done as much as he could do so I limp, some days more so than others.

OK, I got your pictures. Had to drive 1,200 miles each way to do it.

The mesh was bent back on itself so it could hook under the upper part of each guard, then bent back under the front of the guards, ending at the back of the guards. As speculated, a small wire ties the top and bottom of the mesh together, not between each pair of guards but many of them.
