Engine horsepower

Postby Mad57fireman » Wed May 16, 2018 5:30 pm

So I just realized the Darnell A that I have acquired from my Dad is not a 47. Apparently according to the serial number it is a 41. In any case, what are the specs for the engine in these tractors? Obviously it is a 4 cylinder but we're they all the same engine? Horsepower rating? Torque rating? Displacement? Just looking for some basic info on it. Thank you in advance.

Probably posted on an iPhone with that stupid autocorrect. It’ll do stuff like that once in awhile and it’s easy to miss.

I kinda like the name. Could have been a great old tractor brand. As in, never guess what I came across today. A 1935 Darnell.

The horsepower rating for early tractors was rated on the drawbar. Add 3 to the drawbar horsepower rating and this will give you the approximate engine horsepower.
I have an excuse. CRS.
