Our Farmall A

My grandpa bought this 1941 Farmall A used in late 1945 to early 1946. The PO had forgotten to drain the water which froze and cracked the block on the outside of the water jacket. They brought it home, patched it with fiberglass, and used it on the farm until my grandpa passed in 1970. After sitting for around 5-6 years my dad, uncle, and cousins brought it to our house and got it fired up.

Dad then painted it in 1977 and it began its next life on the same family farm.

This is me plowing with the exhaust lift plow somewhere around early 1980's.

After many more years the old A was getting tired and neglected

We brought it back to the shop and started the restoration in 2004. We replaced the cracked block and put an overbore kit in. Then proceeded to pull pieces off to be checked over, resealed, cleaned, and painted.

Here I am at 2 years old getting behind the wheel with my brothers supervision.

Its made several appearance's at the local tractor show.

The tractor replaced 2 horses on the farm and got put on chicken manure duty pulling a David Bradley spreader. Other duties were mowing and raking hay. The first pic is the earliest photo we have probably taken in the late 1940's. The other pics show my grandpa mowing and raking in 1955

Other than a tractor, what other piece of machinery or farm-related item can be integral with producing so many memories? I can't think of one except the farmhouse/homestead itself.

It may skip a generation after my brother and I and go to my brothers grandson. He is a real gear head and tractor nut at 6 years old.
