1st thanks for the prayers
2nd, according to the doctor, kidney shutting down used to be a common thing for knee/hip replacement years ago, they just havnt seen it for awhile. the transfusion was to add blood for an unknown reason. the doctors are talking positive (mostly) and that he should move out of intensive care today maybe. My wife very dependent upon him, as are my kids, hard to see this first hand. Still more to learn, ifn you know what i mean.
Keep praying as we will.

John,
Temporary renal failure can often result after a traumatic medical event. In my late wife's long years as the charge nurse in a large ICU unit, she frequently described the way in which it would turn around.
If you have the opportunity to talk to your father-in-law's renal specialist, ask him what his "gut feeling" is about this, and I have a notion, you'll feel a lot better about things.
All my best,
Tom

John:
Glad to hear that he is feeling a lot better... sounds like the prognosis will be good.
My twin was an Air Force Warrant Officer... and I was a Navy Leading Seaman.... rivalry has been an integral part of our diet since we were tots... now in our old age, it is just getting better. Good ribbing is lots of fun... specially between the senior service (Navy) and the younguns -- (Air types)

Well his 3 day hospital stay turned into 11 days, 5 of which was ICU. He's been home a week now, and seems to be getting around okay. Not going to be entering any races anytime soon. But doing okay. Has home visit for rehab everyday. Hates it when they come, but he does it. He may even come over and see us on Saturday and look at the grown men with their big toys.
Once again thanks for all the prayers, good thoughts, kind words, and well wishers. John
