Does your cub have a name?

Postby Brutalfly » Thu May 08, 2014 7:32 am

I was doing some googling on the go ole net and I came across this site
http://www.savethecub.com/mycubs.htm
I believe it is Mr. Barnyard's site.
I enjoyed going through and reading the names of his cubs other info on each of the cubs.
I thought it was pretty cool.
So I thought I would ask if your cub has a name?
If you want to share the pic and the name of the cub.
I have a name picked out for a cub if I get one but it has to look like the name fits or I have to find another name.

Ditto. No first names for the tractors. Call them a few other names when things go wrong.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I have a name for all my tractors. This is the only way my wife would know which one i was talking about. It started years ago at tax time when i would try to explain which one the deduction was for.Later my son named a couple. Now that we only have a few it is easier to keep track of what i'v done to each of them. The names we have are=Rusty,he was covered with rust when i got him. Cubby, thats what dad called him.Lemon Juice,a Y&W 1975,named because i have always put a lot of lemon juice in my ice tea.BEE CUB,named because i bought it to mow around our bee hives.I'm looking at a 1976/77(not sure yet)red square hood. Her name will be RED BIRD,because a red bird had a nest over where she was sitting and her offerings are still on her.The other tractors have names-grey ghost1926 REGular,PUFFY 1953 AC-WD,Herbert 1951"H",*$^%&* a john deere that will never start when we need to use it,BLUE BERRY a New Holland Diesel.I would put pictures up but i haven't learned that yet.Rick

My dad named everything - cars, cows, tractors, so of course I named Eddie as soon as she was given to me.

Yes, I did use the correct pronoun. You can give them masculine name, but all machinery is feminine in gender.
Michael Cummings
Eddie - a 1959 International Lo-Boy named after my father in law, who who bought her new.

Looks like I need to update my web site!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

My tractors are nameless, can't claim them on taxes so haven' t felt the need to name them. At times they temporally have a nasty name until I get them running again.

Oh yes, makes it easier to identify them to the wife and family, but usually leads to a lengthy explanation to others where the name came from...

Leeroy... my first Cub, a '51 is named after my uncle who I spent many summers on his farm as a kid, the foundation to my love of tractors and related things.

Bunny Lee... my '55 LoBoy, my wife found it on craigslist for me... it is my nickname for her :||): Funny story, I was at the Cub Tug one year, hooking it up to the dyno, Rick Prentice asked "Year" I responded "'55 LoBoy", he asked "name" I said "Bunny Lee"... Rick then asked with a somber straight face "is that with a y or ie"....

I guess they are just tractors but owning one is more of a hobby and form of relaxation for me, kind of adds a little character to it for me.

I am naming my Cub Cadet Originals after the grand kids, worked for an excuse to tell the wife why I needed 5

Sorry, no name for either one of ours, we do kind of like them as if they are people but for whatever reason names are not yet sticking and it has been more than 60 years since the first Cub came our way!

All my cubs have a name.
Jenny is a 51 Cub, purchased in West Virginia. Jersey came from New Jersey, And Wilkes was picked up in North Wtilkesboro, N.C.,
They all have their personalities. I do talk to them, sometimes nice and sometimes not. Jersey is a rust bucket who had a lipstick paint job. Bought her on eBay from a dubious guy who sells Cubs in NJ...... Not really to blame him, I was an uninformed future Cub owner when I bought her. After a thousand dollars of improvements, she is still a rust bucket with lipstick, but she runs nice.
Wilkes,, I was in Ireland visiting Donegal Cub, and looked on eBay ....saw a nice looking Cub and put in a bid.....
A week later I was informed he was mine. He is the best of the lot.... Snow blade, sickle mower and plow, and starts just fine. Also a 12 volt Cub.
Boss Hog straightened out Jenny at this years Cub Fest. Switched her from a Mag to 12 volts. She runs perfectly now and is the one used for cultivating the garden.
The 1951 Ferguson TO 20 is called Fergie
The Kubota L3200 is just called Kub
With names for each, I know who I am talking about
