I did a little search around this site for "grinder+stand". I didn't see any pictures or design ideas out there. There's a lot of different ideas on a google search from wooden to ones made out of jack stands.
If you've made your own - can you share pix?
Thanks, Ken

Use an old torque tube.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Bench Grinder Stand
I mounted my small/medium sized bench grinder on a thick board. Then attached a cleat to the bottom of the board. Cleat gets clamped into a vise when grinder is in use.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: Bench Grinder Stand
Mine is a basic Craftsman one, spaced up with a 2X6 to give it a little more height, works fine for me with my 8" industrial grinder. It does tend to "walk" when wire wheeling a lot if I don't put the legs on a heavy rubber mat I have on the floor.
My son wanted something unique so we scavenged some odd parts lying around the farm in NE. He used a wide pulley for the base, it came from an old conveyor elevator lift and a old well pump with a plate on top to mount the grinder on. A heavy threaded rod runs through the center attaching everything together. The base is smaller than we wanted but it is super heavy and is solid and doesn't "walk" like the stands tend to do. Here it is before paint, he wanted unique....

Re: Bench Grinder Stand
An old disk coulter with a piece of pipe welded to it would work great. An old wheel rim or anything like that would work great. Weld a little pad to the top to bolt the grinder to and you're good to go.
Okay, maybe it's not this cool:
but it will work.....

Re: Bench Grinder Stand
This is mine. Nothing fancy but it is made from scrap that didn't cost me anything and works well.

Re: Bench Grinder Stand
I have two, one on a large truck rim and one that used a plow disc. If I make another I'll go to the junkyard and get a good looking wheel and tire that hold air. Will make good quiet cushion. If you use a large flat piece of metal (round or square) it will need some rubber cushions (BTDT).
