Floating around Sneads? Man, that baby sunk like a rock.

Re: DSCF project requests

Postby Hengy » Wed Feb 05, 2014 4:19 pm

I was contacted by PM by a member asking me to do a "how to" to remove slop from a governor and to take pics or a video of the project. I am really game to do this, but as I am flying to the fest, I cannot pack a tractor in the overhead compartment. I was wondering if anyone needed this to be done on their tractor and would be willing to allow me to do this how to? Would anyone be willing to film me doing it or take pictures of the progress? The only tools I will need are JB Weld, some varying size (small) roll pins, a drill, a hacksaw and a bench vice. I cannot take full credit for this process as it was taught to me by Bill Hudson when we did Merlin's governor, and further practiced on Lewis' governor.

Anyone interested in having this repair made and filming it?

Thanks!

I would be happy to help/photograph/video IF I manage to get my transmission done! Certainly a project I would like to observe, at the least!

Roy, are you installing a long underwear dispenser, in the bathroom? Might be needed!

I believe Hip Wader boots would be more appropriate for this gathering!

With the cast of characters that will be here next week, I may have to provide a hip-boot dispenser. Or some light weight step ladders.
Those folks like Silvey & BR & a few other special guys spread it plenty deep.

I am pretty much loaded and ready to head south! I made a post offering to stop for any IH parts for anyone who forgot to get some needed parts for their project. Let me know right away if you need something.

Right now, MY projects (with the DSCF committee's approval!) are:

1 Rebuild ONE of 3 transmissions- I think I have the seals I need, gaskets, & LOTS of spare parts. But I do not know what else I need to do the preload and backlash procedures. If anyone knows of something I am missing or need to get, please let me know.

2 Install a wear sleeve on the front crankshaft pulley - I have the sleeve/seal pair from TM Tractor for this, but do I need anything special for the installation?

3 Repair a PTO shift lever pin - I bought a 1/4" tungsten drill bit, as suggested in a How To, but do not have the expertise to remove the old pin, then cut & weld the drill bit "pin" in place. Can someone help me with this?

4 Replace the PTO shaft bushing in the end of the drive shaft - I have the tiny little bushing. Anything special for its installation?

5 Tail Light 6v to 12v conversion - I have two of these lights: http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/Cub%20Parts%20Manuals/TC-37F%20Revision%202%20(09-70)//Electrical/Page-81.jpg Anyone know if there are 12v bulbs available? And where I can get 2 of each?

Hopefully I will get some good work done, and THANKS to everyone in advance for all your help!!!

Get 'em at any parts house. The 1156 will work but the 1143 is the same shape as the 1133.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Mr. E , I'm not bringing anything to be worked on, but, I'd like to watch or assist someone adjust a governor linkage assy. and I'd also like to observe / assist a cub getting new brake bands. I've read quite a few post lately on clutch adjustment / replacement and if possible I'd like to observe this as well. And last but not least, My wife wants to plow a few rounds using a 193 plow. We're excited about our first "Cubfest" and are really looking forward to the fellowship. Thanks, Tom aka Papa's Cub.
