My Cub Cadet 782, Serial #715729

Postby Stanton » Wed Jan 08, 2014 7:45 am

Bought used in 2012, I repainted it, bought a grill at Cub-Arama, new front tires, replaced the foot treads, made a new hood ornament and applied decals. Has the KT-17 Series II V-twin engine; has plenty of power. The serial number places it in 1983, so technically produced by MTD under the Cub Cadet Corp (CCC), but still has the cast iron tranny/axle. MTD used a lot of the parts left over during the first few years after the buy-out in 1981. Generally, if the axles were painted black, they were made by MTD, while the IH made Cub Cadets had their axles painted red.

Looks good! That is exactly the rig I will be looking for when mowing season gets here. How wide is the deck, 44"?

Thanks Al and Randall. Yes, it has a #44C deck (3-blade, 44" cutting width, the "C" indicates a 5/8" belt/pulley).
